八正道
1.RIGHT VIEW: seeing things clearly just as they are
一 正見
2.RIGHT INTENTIONS: understanding causation, cause and effect, and
interconnectedness, impermanence, subjectivity, and unselfishness
二 正思惟
3.RIGHT SPEECH: using words that are true, appropriate to the situation, kind,
helpful, nonviolent, and conducive to the greater good
三 正語
4.RIGHT ACTION: acts congruent with the basic Buddhist precepts regarding
cherishing life and refraining from lying, stealing, sexual misconduct, and intoxicants that
cause heedlessness
四 正業
5.RIGHT LIVELIHOOD: engaging in honest, productive labor that harms no one and
benefits people as well as oneself; making a life, not just a living; finding your true
vocation
五 正命
6.RIGHT EFFORT: balanced effort. diligence, energy, perseverance, and joyous
enthusiasm
六 正精進
7.RIGHT MINDFULNESS: alert presence of mind and attentiveness to present-
moment experience, outer and inner, without judgment or manipulation
七 正念
8.RIGHT CONCENTRATION: being focused on the task at hand, giving special
emphasis to what will ultimately be conductive to awakened popular enlightenment, spiritual
freedom, inner peace, and deathless bliss.
八 正定
円相 ENSO-Zen Circle
The enso symbolizes absolute enlightenment, strength, elegance, the universe, and mu (the void). It is characterised by a minimalism born of Japanese aesthetics.
Also, sometimes the Chinese characters 円窓 is used for enso, which means ‘a window that shows your heart.
