Antique popular Wrythen Ale Wine Glass Pair....c1800...

Here is a fine pair of antique Wrythen ale or wine glasses made in England in about 1800. They are both in excellent condition with no chips and no cracks. Each glass is about 5 3/4" tall and consists of a funnel shape bowl with wrythen decoration on the stem extending down to popular the foot. The foot of each is thick and conical and shows a snap pontil on the bottom. The crystal glass is wonderfully "wavy" (see photos) and contains original gaffer tool marks and also contains some bubbles, all consistent with antique British glass of the time and simply wonderful. Considered rare.
