Japanese antique old Buddhist altar monke's silk stole WAGESA buddhist clothes white Gold Small flower stalk with SAMURAI crest 55.9in×2.4in.

This is called a 和袈裟wagesa, a type of 袈裟kesa that monks wear around their necks when performing their duties or moving about.
Originally, the Buddha had to suffer for six years in a single robe, and when he attained enlightenment, his robe was tattered and full of splinters.　It is said that wearing Buddha's robe (kesa) was the beginning of wearing the Buddha's heart (compassion) around one's neck.
The kesa is a symbol of Buddhist practice, and wearing it is a sign of being a disciple of Buddha. For this reason, the kesa is worn when reading sutras or doing zazen. Originally made by piecing together rags, it is thought to be more valuable to use old cloth sewn together as much as possible.
Nowadays, all Buddhists are able to use kesa.

The embroidery and other details are beautifully done not only as a Buddhist tool but also as an item. This has white and Small flower stalk and Gold embroidery repaired in some areas due to the slippage of the cloth over time and tears on the inside. Unlike newer items, this one has the cool atmosphere of having been used for many years.
This family crest is called the "下り藤SAGARI-FUJI/wisteria crest" because it is a design of wisteria flowers and leaves.
Wisteria grows by wrapping its "vines" around other trees and other plants, and produces long, wavy, light purple leaves.
It is also known as a very vigorous plant.
Wisteria is also known as a plant with a very strong life force, and its patterns have been popular used since the Heian period (794-1185) in honor of its longevity and strong fertility.
