Tapping into my love of mixing wood and metal, this special piece balances itself beautifully between the clean, industrial forms and the earthy grain of the Cypress wood creating a bold but serene composition. I roughed out aluminum into the shapes then I ground, filed and polished them by hand to a satin finish. The Monterey Cypress wood is from a downed coastal tree which I sawed into blocks then used a hole drill bit to make the "beads". Then I sanded the wood to a soft finish making both materials as irresistible as possible.
