Vintage Cast Iron Native American Indian Chief Warrior w/ Tomahawk ''Bank'' - SCOUT - 6” Tall. The nice Indian bank is in good old worn - vintage condition with a few minor paint nicks and chips here and there and or age. This one is one of the lighter weight not heavy ones that is the newer reproductions. The first ones of the Native American Indian chief - Scout - were made from 1915 to 1930. This is one you see more popular of these and they are after the 1970s and not marked Hubley - but the older reproduction type banks weren't marked that I am aware with Hubley. It has slight opening on the legs shown - doesn't fit tight like some of the older ones. Comes with original paint - wear from age - so some chippy paint. The inside is clean.. The bank is hand painted and is very colorful. If you look at these - some have overspray on them - which makes them not from the 1930s and some were repainted to look old. This is the original hand painting done on them. There is a # 850 A & B stamped on the inside which you will find on these - I am stating it - as some don't open up their banks to see. It is Good condition inside. The screw that holds the two pieces together still has some original paint on it. The exact age of this is unknown and have done quite a bit of research on them - although these banks were reproduced this one is 1970s or newer- Many say they are the 1930s - but I think many of the ones listed then were not sprayed and then handpainted - and these you can see the overspray they did on some of the upper body. I have had some of these over the years in different times / eras - so - I believe it is not antique for sure. The Chief is dressed in a traditional outfit with white pants with red trim, a headdress, and holding a tomahawk. Nice - novelty item that is very collecatble. Again - this is the lighter weight one and not as heavy cast iron. Priced accordingly. I may still have another listed - which is older than this one - but priced higher - but not as high as some are putting them when they really are reproductions made to resemble the ones from before the 1930s ones! And they weren't colorful from the 1930s as the ones later produced - like this one.
