Product code: African popular Tonga Stool Vintage - Zimbabwe
This stool was hand-carved from one single piece of wood by the Tonga people, a Bantu ethnic group of southern Zambia/ neighboring northern Zimbabwe. It was used by the elderly, symbolizing their status within the group. The stool is small, but have a monumental sculptural form. Tonga stool forms and styles are quite distinct, most stools are embellished with geometric support bases.
It is a vintage piece, please refer to pictures for condition. The stool has aging marks and cracks, adding character.
