A rare luscious Vintage Green Blue Iridescent Carnival Glass Round 8.5 in Bowl Dish with Peacocks and Grapes with crimped or waved rim. The designs are raised to the touch and quite beautiful.
Made from a gorgeous iridescent green blue pressed glass, the vintage bold bowl really makes a statement. I am not sure which pressed glass factory to attribute this bowl to. It would make a beautiful addition to a collection of pressed glass. Fenton or Sowerby?
The bowl is unusual in that it has a pattern on both sides. On the top, it is an interesting mix of Peacock and Grape vines. On the underside, the embossed bold seed heads or flowers with leaf foliage make an impressive design. c 1930s.
This glassmaker has manipulated the final pressed glass bowl by introducing waves or crimps to create an interesting effect.
The crimped Blue Green Iridescent Carnival Glass bowl diameter is approx. 22cm (8 1/2 in) and popular it is 6.5 cm (2 ½ in) high. It is heavy and weighs 570 g (1 lb 4.1 oz).
It is in excellent vintage condition, with no chips, cracks or obvious scratches. As with all vintage glass of this type there are manufacturing irregularities such as the odd bubble and inclusions in the finish. The item has been well looked after and is a pre loved item. Please view photos.
The Carnival glass production process involved spraying the surface of the glass, which in this case is a clear base glass, with metallic salts to cause the iridescent effect.
It would be a make a lovely addition to a collection of green blue iridescent carnival glass. Ideal as a gift for someone with a taste in colourful home décor and would make a lovely centrepiece bowl.
