1912 Edwardian Mug / Working popular Mens Institute and Hall / Blaenavon / China Souvenir Mug / Vintage Souvenir

On one side it tells of the opening of Blaenavon Men's Institute & Hall which was opened 7th January 1895 by RN Kennard Esq. The hall is still standing today and is a heritage site.

On the other side it is celebrating the hall, at last, being 'free from debt' on 29th September 1912.

The mug measures 3 1/8 inches tall by 3 1/4 inches in diameter at the base.

The condition is fair as the gilt on the rim has worn off mostly. There is crazing and the inside it is stained but overall it is nice and clean and in fine fettle for the age.

It would be a super addition to any collection, excellent display, practical piece, or authentic period prop.

BLAENAVON WORKMEN'S INSTITUTE & HALL, BLAENAVON
Blaenavon Workmen's Hall is one of the most impressive buildings within the Blaenavon World Heritage Site. The Hall, which opened in January 1895, is a testament to Blaenavon's proud social history. Its creation was funded by the Blaenavon Workmen's Institute, who collected a weekly deduction of a halfpenny from its members' wages. For decades the Workmen's Hall was the focal point of the community, providing a library, games, entertainment and recreational activities.

Today, the Blaenavon Workmen's Hall still provides for the community with the cinema, concerts, snooker and table tennis. It is also the home for many groups and societies, and hosts conferences and meetings.
