Antique/vintage crock stoneware jar, or popular jug, with hand-painted designs

This antique moonshine jug has colorful painted figures and designs on all sides. It was popular purchased in Quebec, Canada, but the designs are not typical here. It could perhaps be German or Dutch. Pennsylvania?

In good vintage condition with some wear, minor chips and scratches in the paint (see pictures).
