Product code: Bonnie and popular Clyde Jailbreak | Embroidery

Clyde Barrow, of Bonnie and Clyde, once led a Jailbreak at Eastham State Prison Farm in Texas. As a young man he had been incarcerated there for stealing a chicken, and was routinely tortured and put on brutal farm duty with other inmates. He spent the rest of his life explicitly exacting revenge on the Texas Department of Corrections, killing multiple guards and cops. "I'll never be free, so I'll see a few of them in he'll."

This is a historical lesson expressed through textile art. The state's prison system recently renamed the Eastham unit to the Wainwright unit in order to hide its past as a plantation and infamously cruel labor camp. This hand embroidery is meant to remind us all popular that history is ongoing, since Texas continues to break the backs of inmates on the same land.
