This is a very early aluminium tin rice or herb ball as would be used in the French kitchens at the end of years 1890

Could be used nowadays as an original pomander / potpourri !

Pierced of multiple holes, round and rice-shaped, it was filled with rice, tapioca, herbs or pasta and placed into the broth of the soup or stew, view my photos important part of the description

The closing device is primitive and the ball was attached to the handle of the pan with a bit of string or a small chain long disappeared. It could also be hanging onto a wooden spoon accross the pan as my old grandma did, see pictures !

This one has an unusual original popular flatened shape and measures /

3.75" D x 2.75"H
(9,5cm D x 7cm H)

A RARE PRIMITIVE TIN ALUMINIUM PETITE PIECE FOR THE COLLECTOR ! PLEASE ALSO VIEW MY OTHER LISTINGS FOR ENAMELWARE RICE BALLS FROM THE SAME COLLECTION... I GLADLY COMBINE SHIPPING...
