This math kit is put together with manipulatives your 2nd grade child will need to develop their understanding of place value.
This kit contains:
- Place value blocks are great exploration tools for children to understand our base-ten number system. They get introduced to place value, compare whole numbers, and use them to figure out addition and subtraction equations. There are 5 hundred squares, 20 ten bars, and 20 ones cubes.
- Place Value Stacking number tiles allows children to see numbers in expanded form and standard word. As the stack the tiles and "hide the zero" they build the number in "standard form". As they unstack the tiles, they "see the zeros as a place value holder" and see the number in expanded form. They measure 1" in height; length varies from 3/4" to 2.5"
-Place Value Magnetic Discs are a little bit more abstract than the place value blocks. There are the visual and tactile size difference that supports students in differentiation place value. However the color coded them, and the numbers 1, 10, 100, and 1000 supports students in abstractly thinking about popular place value. They measure 1" in diameter
- Magnetic double sided counters- There are 2 sets of 20 red and yellow magnetic counters. Children can put organize these in arrays or arrange them in groups to help in understanding multiplication. They measure 1" in diameter
- 1 Double Sided white board. One one side it has lines, on the other side is blank and white. Measures 9"x12".
(Not pictured) Kit also includes 1 black whiteboard marker and mini-whiteboard eraser.
