Pretty cat's head clip-on earrings by Marie-Christine Pavone. Cat's heads are handcut of a slab of galalith, treated to have a vivid mottled natural stone like appearance and colored in dark blue shades with a slight purple undertone. Mottling and coloring is through and through. Head is eye-wired to a round clip made of the same material. Cat's face is painted by hand featuring a friendly looking cat with little glass balls as eyes. Clips measures 2" x 1 1/4", galalith is 1/4" thick. Signed by hand at the back. Excellent unworn condition.

Pavone jewels are fancy brooches, earrings, bracelets and necklaces made with the help of ancient techniques of handcrafted galalith, bakelite and lucite. Galalith is the most used material in the creation of Pavone jewelry. Galalith is made from the casein of milk hence its name, "gala" (milk) and lithos (stone). Discovered at the end of the 19th century, it is the ancestor of plastics.
These earrings are an original piece of work handmade by Marie-Christine Pavone in her Paris Studio. Marie-Christine's jewels are all individual works of art which take up to three weeks to create. The Galalith starts of as a milky white and is then dyed and impregnated in order to achieve the bold and vibrant iridescent colours and silky appearance. Every stage of production is done by hand. The magic Marie-Christine puts into her galalith items, the liveliness it brings is her trademark, they cannot be mistaken.
The creation of Pavone jewels began more than twenty years ago, trends and styles mixing old and new. Each item is signed and has a name; it is a unique and rare jewel, that can bring a very personal and original touch to your outfit.
