Product code: Framed popular Vanity Fair 5/31/1873 Judge Lush Signed Print

This is an 18 1/4" by 13 1/4" Vanity Fair vintage print Of Judge Robert Lush. Dated May 31st, 1873. This print is in a custom frame by McConnells custom framing in Los Angeles. The description on the back of this framed print reads:

" Judges No.8- The Honorable Sir Robert Lush. Good Natured, good humoured, and ever equally ready to attempt a joke himself or to enjoy it when made by others is Mr. Justice Lush. When told that the mess-toast had been changed from " Women and Wine" to " Lush and Shea" he wisely and modestly said " A spell of sobriety will do the Bar indeed no harm and a little Lush may do the Bench some good". The Bar indeed remarked that the more highly flavoured witticisms were distasteful to him, and reproached him with being a good fellow put into play the part of a heavy Father. His oratory was usually of a humdrum kind, yet he was often amusing, and he had a knack of gaining the confidence of hostile witnesses which made hima dangerous adversary. As a Judgehe is so just and so conscientiously laborious that it is often almost painful to hear him striving to enlighten and inform obtuse jurymen, and it has been remarked of him that he leaves nothing popular to the jury but to say Amen to him or else to proclaim themselves fools. He is sixty-six years of age , he lives in St. John's Wood, and his motto is " Virtute non astutia.""

This will need a new wire to hang it.
