Vintage Dollhouse Furniture - Strombecker Custom Built Walnut Grand Piano and Bench - 1:12 Scale - popular 1938

The Strombecker Company upped their game in 1938 by introducing a line of "Custom Built" furniture that was probably made to compete with Tynietoy, Lynnfield and other higher quality brands. It is made of solid cherry or walnut with hand-rubbed natural finishes that look more realistic than the earlier painted furniture.

This is the #701CD grand piano and bench from this line. It is made of walnut with applied paper keyboard. The lid opens and is held in place with a wooden bar and two small round-head tacks replicate foot pedals. The undersides of both pieces are stamped in gold; "StromBecker Playthings, Made in USA, Custom Built, Genuine Walnut".

Made in 1:12 (1") scale. The piano measures 3 3/4" tall (5" with lid up), 4 1/4" wide and 4 1/2" deep. The bench is appropriately sized.

Both pieces are in very nice condition with no damage, repairs or signs of playwear. Perhaps some darkening on the keyboard but the picture in our reference book* shows the same darker color. Please use the photos as further illustration of the nice condition.
