Nice Nelson McCoy stoneware milk pitcher from the 1920's that has the Central Grape pattern on a Barkline background and finished in a glossy green glaze. No McCoy mark is on the pitcher, but this is a pattern and attributed to Nelson McCoy in a McCoy identification guide. Pitchers like this were often filled with milk or water and set on the table at meals, so they were used frequently. It measures 8 5/8" tall and the opening is 6 3/8" across from spout to opposite side of pitcher. There are some flaws that occurred during popular the pitcher's manufacture and were glazed over. This is common as McCoy mass produced pottery for the public and extra care was not taken to prevent these flaws. There is a chip on the bottom that is only visible when the pitcher is turned over, a few flakes around the rim, and a flake on the handle. This wear would be expected of a piece of pottery of this age. No cracks and nice, bright color and shiny glaze. This would be a beautiful addition to a collection of McCoy or stoneware pottery, or use as decor to hold flowers in a farmhouse kitchen.
