Ruija's forms were developed by Ulla Procope in 1960 for Arabia, Finland. Over the ensuing decades, a number of wonderful hand-painted patterns by Raija Uosikkinen have been used on the shapes. Noted here is a hard-to-find medium covered casserole in the Ruija or Ruija Troubadour pattern that was introduced in the 1970s. When used without the lid, this makes a wonderful serving bowl. Part of a very large group of Ruija dinnerware that includes both place pieces as well as hard-to-find serving pieces. In excellent vintage condition with negligible use/wear. Measures 9" diameter (widest point of rimmed base) x 3" height (5.5" height when lid is in place). Marked on its underside as illustrated in photo #6. A larger version of the covered casserole is available in a separate listing (photo #7 illustrates the size difference).
