The katakuchi (Japanese tea pitcher) is a spouted serving bowl. Also known as Chahai, the Sea of Tea, or the Vessel of Justice(Goun Dao Bai).
It's a special decanting vessel, used in a tea ceremony for timely interruption of brewing, and cooling, to ensure the consistency of the flavor of the tea.
Also suitable for serving sake.
Good pouring.
Created in a wabi-sabi aesthetic way by a Ukrainian ceramic artist.
Wheel-thrown, glazed, and fired at the Pottery Park studio Kiln in 2020.
