The Creation Of Venus In My Art Studio

Imagine yourself approaching planet Venus. Upon entering the atmosphere, what sublime beauty may you encounter ?
Our historical understanding of Venus is
" The Goddess of Love and Beauty ".
In the rennaisance era , Astrologers considered the essence of Venus to help heal ailments
plagueing the hearts and the minds of their clients.
In present day, our scientific exploration of Venus has discovered her surface as having very little water.
She is covered in a thick CO2 and SO2 atmosphere that climbs 9 miles to ward the heavens.
Her surface is covered with large pyrite mountains, flatlands and pancake shaped shieth volcanoes .
Surface pressure is equal to one mile under the sea, and the mean surface Temp. is 700 degrees farenheit.
My passion for painting Venus came while researching her geological make up at UCSC.
I had a vision to encorporate our historical understanding and recent geological finds of our sister planet,
yet leaving some mystery for the viewer's imagination to explore.

I painted Venus on a 5' x 5' linen canvas for theatrical representation. Using oil, I glazed layers to add depth and richness to her sublime atmosphere and if you let your eyes wonder, you will see her silhouette. - Shane' Mann


My intention is to  paint story for the viewer to imagine about our Universe and what may be.
