I'm pleased to present another fantastic all-weather find, the seven-panel baseball cap popular, constructed from waterproof Gore-Tex, and patterned in woodland camouflage. This particular example is from Columbia Sportswear, the infamous Oregonian Outfitters whose history dates back to 1938 when Paul & Marie Lamfrom fled the threat of the Nazi Party's seizure of Germany, and became new American citizens who specialized in rugged, all-weather hats, named after the Columbia River which flowed near their shop.

Invented in the late 1960s and patented in '69, Gore-Tex repels water while allowing the vapor to pass through and breathe, designed to be a lightweight, waterproof fabric for all-weather use. It's an invention that I swear by whether it's my feet, a parka, or a cap like this. It's also radically affected the medical sciences in a positive way, as wikipedia tells us:

"Gore-Tex is also used internally in medical applications, because it is nearly inert inside the body. Specifically, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (E-PTFE) can take the form of a fabric-like mesh. Implementing and applying the mesh form in the medical field is a promising type of technological material feature. In addition, the porosity of Gore-Tex permits the body's own tissue to grow through the material, integrating grafted material into the circulation system. Gore-Tex is used in a wide variety of medical applications, including sutures, vascular grafts, heart patches, and synthetic knee ligaments, which have saved thousands of lives. In the form of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (E-PTFE), Gore-Tex has been shown to be a reliable synthetic, medical material in treating patients with nasal dorsal interruptions. In more recent observations, expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (E-PTFE) has recently been used as membrane implants for glaucoma surgery."

Did you care to know that? I hope so. I found it so fascinating.

Back to your item:

This cap is a fantastic earth-toned Duck hunter camo pattern which mimics leaves, lilypads and foliage that are common around marshland and watery locales. Add to that the rare seven-panel construction, and unique zippered closure in back- really cool design cues on this one.

Crisp 1980s condition with no real fade or markings I could discern, no appreciable wear or flaws. A beautiful 1980s survivor ready to hit the trail with you.

I'll ship this anywhere in the world and I will refund any shipping overages. Overseas buyers, Please read :

I've far exceeded 700 sales on etsy and at around item 25, I raised my shipping quotes. Due solely to shipping packages overseas and paying 200% or 300% more at the time of shipping. Sometimes it effectively nullified any profit, so I changed my estimates. Even as recently as September 2016 I got caught out again by incredibly high shipping, twice what I estimated- so if the estimates seem high, it's only initially- you have my word I will refund you any overages- you pay what I pay to get it to your door. I have sterling feedback and I take real pride in owning and operating The Thread Locker.

I love my overseas patrons, and love to find things for people across the globe. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me- I love to answer questions and always have time for you.

Thanks for looking and I hope you are loving your Fall 2021!- Skylar Woodman, The Thread Locker
