Chaika (Russian: чайка, meaning "sea-gull") watches are mens and women's brand made in Russia. The factory making Chaika watches was founded in 1940 in the city of Uglich for the production of precision technical stones. The Factory is located on the banks of the Volga river just north of Moscow there is the ancient city of Uglich. It has been there for more than 60 years. The factory subsequently made watches with small calibres (16 mm).
Chaika Factory is the only watch factory in Russia that complies with International Watch Standards (ISO 9001-2000) for durability and outstanding design.
As "Chaika" was the "call-sign" of the first female cosmonaut Valentina Tereshkova, the watch brand was named in her honour.
