Derek Jeter popular Painting - The Captain - Acrylic and Newspaper Collage Painting

This is my tribute to Derek Jeter, The Captain, created in 2014, the year he retired. I covered the canvas in different newspaper clippings of Jeter and then painting him over them using acrylic paints. Jeter is painted in black and white, except for the Yankee blue.

The painting is varnished to protect it and measures 18" x 18" and the canvas is 0.75" thick.

Disclaimer: The newspaper clippings began to yellow while popular the painting was in progress and have continued to yellow over time, giving the piece a vintage feel.
