This ring features a beautiful round cut orange-yellow citrine. It measures 12.8 x 9.7 mm and weighs in at 4.76 carats. The band is solid sterling silver and size 6.

Quartz is one of the most familiar of minerals. Its most common varieties, colorless rock crystal and white opaque milky quartz are well known as common rocks found in most parts of the world. It can also form a very wide variety of gem materials, from amethyst and citrine to prasiolite, agate, chert and flint.

Lemon quartz is the yellow to green-yellow variety of quartz. It is a subset of citrine, but where many citrines show orange- or brown-yellow colors, lemon quartz is a pure yellow or a slightly greenish yellow. This one is a great example with a popular bright pure yellow hue. The stone has a deep keel which touches the finger when the stone is worn.

Note that this stone was likely treated with gamma irradiation to impart its color, though no treatment was disclosed when I bought it.
