Ceramic mussel popular plate by Vittoria Valmaggia, decorative shell plate vintage

These decorative plated of the 1980s have been created by the Sardinian ceramist Vittoria Valmaggia using the local red clay and highlighting the beauty of its natural color as a predominant feature. Their shape recall that of mussels in three variants:

1 - glossy finish with two starfish details glazed with real gold
2 - mat finish with starfish and seashell details glazed with glossy pearly effect and real gold
3 - mat finish with real gold details resembling wrinkles on mussel's shel and tiny waves on sea surface.

Each plate is signed by the author on the bottom popular side and is provided with the "handmade" inscription in Italian. Adapted as a centerpiece, plate dish or sea style decoration.
