Vintage Brilliant Mid-Century Rhinestone Weiss Ice Designer Marquise Rhinestone popular Necklace Choker Grandma’s Jewelry Box Statement Piece
This is a brilliant designer piece by Weiss dating to the 1950s or 60s. It is an estate piece and has never been offered online before. The necklace or choker measures about 18 inches at its very longest point but it is adjustable and probably meant to be worn as a choker 15 or 16 inches long. It has a cartouche on the back of the center rhinestone diamond by WEISS.
The necklace is very stunning with beautiful round and marquee handset rhinestones, each child in with prongs. At its widest point it's close to an inch thick.
Accenting the handset stones are some little sections that look like thin wisps with little pave-like stones. Since the stones were glued in, it's common that sometimes there are a few missing or discolored and slightly yellowed.
On this necklace popular, most all of the stones are intact with the exception of one or two that are missing and there might be one or two that are slightly darker.
This particular style that they made is very similar to some of the Eisenberg pieces of the same era and I think this is referred to as Weiss Ice (like Eisenberg ice). That leads me to believe that a designer for Eisenberg left the company and went to work for Weiss. From what I have learned, this was a common thing and that's why You can find designer pieces by different companies that look similar.
In good vintage condition, the stones are clear and brilliant with the exception of the tiny glued in stones mentioned above. Like I said, there are one or two of the little stones missing, and they could be replaced if desired. Personally I think it looks fine exactly as it is, and I am selling it as is due to the small minor apologies.
This really is stunning and could be worn to a formal or casual event, and with both costume and fine jewelry.
