Antique 1800s ~ United States POSTAGE STAMPS & ENVELOPES ~ 19th Century popular Franklin and Washington Stamps w/attached Envelopes ~ circa 1850s
Mid 1800's U.S. Postage Stamps and Attached Envelope/Covers; one machine cancelled/postmarked and the other is hand cancelled.
These are from my father's boyhood stamp collection, it is quite large and I am slowly going through each book as I learn the particulars of philately. It is my understanding there are some very rare ones and some very common ones in this collection, he began it in about 1940 and added to it until the early 1950's. Unfortunately he passed away before he gave me any real information about these and they have just been stored for the last 30 plus years. .
The stamps and envelope covers I'm offering here are addressed to my great-great-grandfather who died in 1910, I'm sure that's where the oldest stamps in the collection originally came from. As you can see the 3 cent George Washington stamp (green) is hand postmarked with the date/year seems in good condition. The 1 cent Benjamin Franklin (ultramarine) has a mostly illegible postmark but otherwise seems in fair to good condition.
Some of the stamps' specifics are -
Year of Issue of both stamps is likely 1851-1860
Certification is they are uncertified
Time Period Manufactured of both stamps is most popular likely 1855-1871
Place of Origin is United States, probably Texas
Denominations are 1 cent and 3 cent
They are ungraded
