*Notable Properties* include:
Conch:
The conch shell is a spiritual symbol popular that has been used in many cultures throughout history. Together with the Circle + the Spiral, it's perhaps one of the oldest symbols used in esoteric wisdom.
Used for practical purposes as a horn in ancient times, Conch is typically associated with the sound of horns that were used to wake people up or signal a warning. Though this is the official meaning used today, it is only a half the story, which is ultimately misleading.
When studying Buddhism, it's important to understand the deeper symbolic meaning of the conch shell. Ancient sages adopted the practical use and associated the conch shell with spiritual awakening in symbolism.
In Hindu mysticism, Conch makes the Aum (Om) sound that is said to awaken the ignorant from their slumber. It is also believed the be the Sound of the Cosmos, reaching to Infinity.
In ancient Sanskrit, Conch is known as Shankha meaning “a shell holding the sacred water.” Vedic mysticism says Conch appeared from the water after "the great churning of the ocean."
In multitude of depictions, both Vishnu + Lakshmi hold a Conch. In the Mahabharata, Arjuna uses a conch shell to call his troops into battle. Conch is therefore associated with courage, power, + ultimate sovereignty.
According to mainstream Buddhism and Hinduism, Conch is also associated with truthful speech + undaunting strength.
Further, Conch is associated with water - both the physical + the Sacred Element. Thus, the symbolic meaning of Conch bears a relation to creation. The spiral pattern at the tip of the conch shell represents the Beginning of Existence.
In Aztec mythology, the Creator God Quetzalcoatl produces life by putting bees into the conch shell to make it sound. This is a reflection of vibration that creates the First Wave of Life.
As we expand our level of consciousness and spiritual maturation, via Remembrance + so-called spiritual awakening, we vibrate on a clearer frequency and connect with more pristine states of consciousness within ourselves. This is where we find + align with the Cosmic Consciousness, aka Truth.
Additionally, Conch is a reflection of the tanden, otherwise known as the hara. The tanden is the part of the body where we find the Sacral Chakra and Solar Plexus Chakra. This part of the breathing apparatus is located in the lower abdomen - where the ancients say the seat of creation resides. Hence why Conch is related with the birth of life – and the holy Aum sound.
Meditators that practice Chakra meditation, know that with the right concentration and focus you can help heal emotional, as well as physical wounds. The Sacral Chakra is associated with water and is found in the lower part of the abdomen just below the belly-button. It's from here that we summon strength and courage.
How many times has somebody asked you, “What's your gut feeling?” The Sacral Chakra is like a second brain, in touch with the innate sense of how we actually feel.
The Solar Plexus Chakra acts as a burning flame, and by focusing on the spot just above your belly-button imagine a bright yellow flame burning away fears and other values that no longer serve you, as these energies follow the Sacred Spiral out to be composted, transmuted, and cosmically redirected.
Conch is associated with Sacred Geometry, Sacred Mathematics, and Numerology. Some would even say the spiral pattern is the shape of creation. Conch features the Fibonacci sequence, the Golden Ratio - or Golden Mean - that is found in many forms of nature.
Ancient sages of every culture used the Sacred Spiral + the Fibonacci spiral as a symbol of creation and transmutation. In ancient lineages look at diety representations, cave paintings, and pottery findings - notice the cone shapes on the head of statues, what do you see?
Sterling Silver:
Silver assists in increasing perception and helps to regulate emotional and intuitive energies. It also strengthens the connection between the physical and astral bodies. When used with gemstones, Silver is able to both attract and retain the qualities which are emitted by the stone, by providing a steadying influence. It performs a balancing act by drawing negative, darker energies from the body while transmitting in the positive energies of the minerals it's collaborating with. Good-to-know: Silver enhances the wisdom + powers of the moon and is excellent for use when energising other stones during the full and new moons.
