John Gould (1804-1881)

One of the most prolific publishers of ornithological subjects in history, he travelled to remote areas to collect bird specimens for the hand colored lithographs he was famous for.
Gould would generally make the sketches and his wife Elizabeth would transfer them to lithographic stones and hand color them, although many other excellent artists would be involved in these works including, William Hart, Edward Lear, H.C. Richter, and Joseph Wolf.

Measures approximately 21 x 14

Condition: Overall good condition for its age, with bright original hand coloring. Very minor foxing and staining. Holes punched on left edge, and rough previously bound edge. Pencil notes en verso, and top right corner. All imperfections can be seen in the attached picture, please review it for an accurate representation of condition popular
