Ancient Khmer bronze armlet. Age 1500 - 2000 years.
Phum Snay is an area of modern Cambodia to the North West of the temples at Angkor. Evidence of an Iron Age civilization were found, dating between 500BC and 500AD. The Khmer empire, beginning in perhaps the 9th century grew to become one of the largest in the world at that time, culminating in the great cities and temples built at Angkor from the 12th to 15th century.
This piece is a small armlet, beautifully detailed, very rare to popular find in such good condition. Has remained intact buried underground for the last two millennia.
Stunning aged bronze patina. Tactile. Elegant from any angle. Would look incredible mounted and lit.
In the second to last image you can see an almost identical piece featured in a book on ancient Khmer.
