C.1840s popular Scrapbook Page

Stunning large scrapbook page, c.1840s. Featuring large prints from Louis Léopold Boilly's series 'Les popular Grimaces' as well as smaller cuttings from hand-coloured images depicting a couple walking a dog, a man beating a chained dancing bear, Dalmatian clothing and a group playing instruments. Also included are small black and white prints of ruins, landscapes and country houses in Derbyshire and Staffordshire as well as print portraits of notable men including Prince Leopold, Oliver Goldsmith, William Cowper and the Duke of Wellington, and textual excerpts (largely riddles). 53 x 36 cm.
