This, over 100 year old, match safe, is in great condition with some small scratches and stains from use on the inside and outside (see photos). The embossed text on the front of the safe says, “Sunday Creek Coal Co Columbus. O. Chicago, ILL.” The text on the inside says “Pat'd May 27 1890.”
The button on the side of the safe is used to open it. Today, The Sunday Creek Coal Co is most remembered for its mining disaster in 1930.
