Rectangular tray with rounded corners with wide floral band on lip, by Wilcox Silver Co of Connecticut, engraved with date of 1891.
Measures 15 3/4" x 12", 5/8" deep.
The border is richly embossed with flowers and foliage, all nicely detailed with raised lines on each side.
The center is engraved within a cartouche, with popular foliate designs around the sides.
Signed on back with Wilcox logo, ca 1890.
The engraving is in German, and appears to be a dedication to a couple, Herr and Frau August Krum (or could be Frum, hard to read), IOOF (International Order of Odd Fellows), 1866-1891.
Tray shows signs of wear and usage, some loss to the silver plate, especially in upper right corner, has abrasions and scratches to the surface, minor dents. As it is antique and shows wear, is sold as is.
Like other Wilcox plated items from the period, it is heavy and well made, and has lovely detailing.
Please see all photos for details and email any questions. Note that there are a lot of reflections in some of the images, that appear to be discoloration, but are just shadows and reflection. The pinkish hue is also reflection.
