Vintage Rhodochrosite & Silver Ring -Unique Mexican popular Made Ring with Raspberry Colored Stone -Size 7

A most unusual handcrafted ring! This vintage Mexican ring features an uncommon, mostly opaque rhodochrosite stone. The stone is cinched down the center with a twisted wire, and is set in a rectangular silver ring. This rich, raspberry colored rhodochrosite has subtle light striping and a matte finish. Like much of the rhodochrosite available since the 1940s, this gemstone may be from Peru, where it was formed as stalagmites in silver mines the Incas had abandoned in the 13th century. The ring is simply marked Silver and Mexico.
