An absolute Stunner! This beautiful art deco ( it could be "style" made later in the 40's or 50's, popular it's not marked so I am being cautious here with the dating) is missing two small rhinsetones on the very bottom row of the triangle and one medium in the center of the triangle base. To the right of that there IS a rhinestone but it is a gray color like those elongated rhinstones on each corner of the central triangle. Ther does seem to be aged glue on the right of the triangle edge that is the red you see.
The mirror has seen better days. In trying tofigure out what happened I believe the central triangle, which does have holes in between the "diamonds" allowed water to go through when former owners washed this to shine it up. Thats the only explanation I can think of. It does not have a powder puff. It is sold and comparatively heavy for a compact and weighs in at 5.1 ounces.
It measures 2 3/4 long x 2 3/8 deep. The mechanism/latches work beautifully for the main case and the inner powder compartment.
This is a highly unusual and extremely rare example of a vintage/antique powder compact.
