Ancient, Royal Blue, Hand Cut Roman Glass, popular Old Lapis Lazuli and Old Amazonite with Modern Russian Amazonite Necklace
I have only very recently started working with ancient glass and beads, in part because I've found a trusted supplier. These beads are truly awe-inspiring to hold--to work with. And that may be the other reason I'm finally taking them on: I feel ready for them at last. They command our respect and attention. I'm unable to work with them passively. I feel their antiquity, their history, their people. It's a big responsibility that has previously stopped me. But now I've begun and there's no turning back.
This particular necklace is a fun example of mixing new stone with ancient stone and glass. You see why I'm liking them so much?
A note to any of you considering buying a necklace with ancient beads, vintage beads or hand cut bone beads, please be aware that these come complete with irregularities. They may have visual flaws and differences because they are old and hand made. So if you don't find imperfections beautiful and interesting, as I do, this choice wouldn't be right for you.
The other thing about these beads is that they don't always hang exactly straight. They can be wonky together, which is another reason I love them. They sort of dance on the wire. But I realize that's not for everybody. Sometimes they need adjustment when you put them on. Just wanted any potential buyers to be aware: These beads want your attention!
