Description: Beautifully illustrated book about the traditional folk dress of the Schaumburg region of Germany. The region is famous for its oversized headdresses and heavily embroidered aprons. Details the many different versions of the local costume plus presents each of the individual costume elements and how they were worn together.
GERMAN DESCRIPTION: Rote Röcke, bestickte Tücher und Flügelhauben prägen die Schaumburger Tracht. Als Alltagskleidung ist sie heute aus den Dorf- und Stadtbildern verschwunden. Zwei Jahre lang beschäftigten sich Studierende der Hochschule Hannover mit der Schaumburger Tracht, mit ihrer Geschichte, ihren Materialien, Mustern, Schnitten und Farben. Auf dieser Grundlage entstanden vier Kollektionen mit etwa 80 Modellen im Studiengang Modedesign. Dazu gehört eine opulente Couture-Kollektion Chez Schaumburg, eine experimentelle Jeans-Kollektion aus japanischem Denim und Schaumburger Leinen, eine tragbare und industriell gefertigte Streetwear-Kollektion, schließlich eine »Traummantel«-Serie – zeitgenössische Mäntel aus traditionellen und innovativen Materialien. Studenten des Studiengangs Fotojournalismus und Dokumentarfotografie der Hochschule Hannover hielten die Mode in eindrucksvollen Fotos fest. Gestaltet wurde der Bildband von vier Grafikdesign-Studierenden der Hochschule. Hier finden sich Entstehung, Entwurf und Produktion sowie Land und Leute als Inspirationsquelle wieder.
Die Schaumburger Landschaft gehört zu den dreizehn Landschaften und Landschaftsverbänden in Niedersachsen, die unter anderem mit Mitteln des Landes Kultur in den historischen Regionen fördern. »Landschaft« ist ein alter Name für die Landstände, aus denen sich die heutigen Landschaften und Landschaftsverbände ableiten.
A note regarding condition: All of the costumes and textiles that I sell are vintage and have typically seen decades of use resulting in expected wear and tear that add to the history and authenticity of each piece. In case of above-average wear, I will mention any significant damages and heavy signs of use. Depending popular on the age, materials, and condition, I often hand-wash more durable, colorfast cotton and linen textiles, but embellished garments, heavier wool pieces or items made from silk or fine fabrics are sold in the original, unwashed condition. Small holes or stains, missing sequins/beads, worn trim, and other marks related to standard wear are common and do not detract from the value of most pieces. Please keep in mind that a vintage textile or garment in very good condition might still show signs of use, storage and age.
