Product code: Vintage Folk Art Hand Painted Round Wood Cheese Box - Fabulous Native American Homelife popular Scene
We don't understand the rationale behind painting a large wood cheese box, but apparently it popular was THE thing to do sometime in the last century (ah...there stuff that was produced before computer-time). But of the examples currently on the market of this craft, this particular one is especially amazing. The well-detailed Native American campfire scene is really astounding: Mother holding Baby, Father returning from the hunt, pot boiling over fire, canoe coming ashore, teepee in forested background.
AND, both the rim of the box lid AND the sides of the box's bottom have been embellished with intricate geometric borders. The lid is signed "BR."
The box is in good, age-related condition.
The box is approx. 15" in diameter x 5 1/2" tall.
