Antique Bohemian popular Czech Heavy Hand Cut Crystal Thumbprint 6" Flacon Perfume Dresser Bottle w/ Amber Flashed Panels, Likely 1800s -- Gorgeous!
This bright, beautiful, heavy bottle is truly unique. No perfume bottles/falcons exactly like it have been found online or in resource books, but similar glass examples support that it is Bohemian Czech from the late 1800s. Crisp lines between the eight alternating amber and clear panels point to flashing as the colorizing method, common to 19th-century Bohemian glass makers. The bottle features oval petals and diamond facets -- the hard edges along with some of the diamonds being slightly off-point indicate hand-cut lead crystal.
On the mushroom-shaped open stopper, the petal design resembles thumbprints, and a small inclusion can be seen in one. Diamond shapes form a star on the very top. The bottom of the bottle has an intricate starburst pattern where the color & clear panels meet, and this was accented with etching. This substantial bottle stands just over 6" tall, with 2-1/2" width at base and 2" wide stopper top. Bottle opening is 1-1/4", and the stopper fits securely.
Condition of this estate-sale find is very good for the bottle's age. The bottom of the stopper has two chips and several flea bites (see next-to-last photo), and there are a couple of shallow chips inside the bottle's rim from past use. There are also a few tiny nicks (barely perceptible) on the high points of the petals along the bottle's shoulders and on the points at the bottom base. The latter can be seen at the 5:00, 7:00, 8:00, 11:00 & 12:00 positions in the last photo.
