Manila popular Envelope Paperback Junk Journals

These six popular “paperback” junk journals are made with manila folders as their covers. The folders are reinforced on the inside for strength and glued closed. They are decorated with stamping and collage and are coated with matte medium for durability. The books measure 5-1/2” wide x 9” tall x approximately 1-1/2” wide. The spine is reinforced with a tight weave cotton fabric and the three signatures are sewn in with waxed linen. There is a dangle in the upper left corner with a tag, a ticket, and various charms, beads, and vintage buttons. The journals are held closed with a string with a key at the end – just wrap the string around three times and tuck in the key. :)

The journal consists of 98 pages made from both old and new papers from many sources, including office papers and pages from a variety of books. There are many pockets throughout with lots of tags, journaling cards, a couple of mini booklets, a writing board, and other fun surprises.

I didn't really have a theme in mind when I made these journals, but now that they are done I would say they are nature themed with a splash of childhood memories!

The journals are numbered 1 through 6, and you can see what each cover looks like in the second photo. They are all basically the same inside, having pages from the same sources and very similar ephemera.
