A very beautiful cameo mounted on an oval french jet mount.
There is a discoloured spot at the bottom of the white cameo but it is part of the nacre shell it was carved from so is it's natural colour.
Underneath where the cameo has been mounted onto the French jet below the lady's chin, a natural crevice in the jet shows as well as another on the back under the unusual brooch mount, this is also a natural crevice in the stone.
The brooch back looks original an it may be tarnished silver but there are no hallmarks so it may just be base metal.
I think the rolling clasp may have been added later for added security.
The cameo is quite large and measures 4.7 x 4.2cm and protrudes by 1.7cm
