White-backed Mousebird - Rare 1805 Stipple Engraving, popular Original Antique Bird Print, Levaillant's Birds of Africa
Plate 257: Le Coliou a dos blanc mâle. Original antique stipple engraving of the white-backed mousebird engraved by C.M. Fessard after J.L. Reinold. A wonderfully detailed depiction of this African bird from Francois Levaillant's “Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux d'Afrique." Published popular in Paris, 1805. It was printed in color by L'Imprimerie de Langlios (a rare process at the time) and finished by hand. It is an original antique stipple engraving, not a modern reproduction.

Approx. 10" x 13" (sheet size)
Condition:
Very good. Clean heavy woven paper with fine color and detail. The original descriptive text sheet will be included.
It will be packaged in a sealed plastic sleeve and will ship either rolled in a tube or flat on a backing within a large rigid mailer for protection.
