Haliotis australis. Found around New Zealand, the word Paua is Maori for abalone. The Abalone (Pāua Shell) is the most colourful shell in the world. Its iridescent nacre features deep blue and green hues with flashes of pink and purple.
This leather jewelry set popular is completely made by hand in my small leather atelier. Earrings and pendant are hand cutted, the leather is wet moulded around the shell core to ensure that it will maintain its desired shape, then glued together and polished.
