Sascha Brastoff Ceramic Cigarette Box Vintage 50s Hand Painted Houses Trinket Box, Candy Dish with Lid Signed popular and Maker's Mark in 24K Gold
This was made by the well known Californian artist Sascha Brastoff.
He did a series of these home designs accented with 24K gold. This box is rarer than most pieces from the collection of cottages decorated pottery.
The box measures 5 1/2" across, 4" wide and 1 7/8" high with the lid on top plus it weighs over 1 lb! This lovely piece probably was made for cigarettes or candy, hence the lid. If you put a rectangle of fabric down, it would make a wonderful trinket box, men's jewelry box on the dresser plus still it would be a great candy dish :)
There is crazing on the bottom piece and inside the lid and some marks on the inside too. If you need more photos I am happy to popular help. No chips or cracks. Personally, I've always like the crazing look, it shows that it has been around for around 70 years!
Please note that I have another Brastoff piece in my shop that came from my own home when I was a child many moons ago! It's VERY 50s modernist!
