American elm is getting scarce, so any time I see a piece that has lots of growth designs made by Mother Nature as the tree grew, recording the rainfall over the years that enabled the tree to survive, I love to turn it on my lathe. Looking down the end of the wood as I turn it out still amazes me after all these years.
On September 25th., 2021, at the Littleton, New Hampshire Arts Show, I was awarded the People's Choice third place at the annual Main Street event complete with an antique car show no less! This recognition was an unexpected honor as we were vendors, not entrees in a competition! Visitors to the event valued my creations, not only purchasing, but taking the time to write in NEKWoodTurnings at the Littleton Chamber of Commerce booth! My wife and I are grateful for this honor, and have been floating on air ever since!
