Handmade stars and sun ceramic shrine, wall decor, shelf, curiosity cabinet, niche, in blue and yellow, handcrafted popular stoneware

This gorgeous wall hanging shrine has been handmade from toasted stoneware covered in a blue slip on the inside with the star shapes showing the clay underneath. The design on the outside is created by carving through the yellow slip into the soft clay. It is entirely freehand so totally unique. The idea is of day and night, sun and stars.


My shrines are quite rustic, and are not meant to be perfect, just like the nature they are inspired by. I feel this adds to their quality, and if you look back you will see that each one is totally one off and unique.

Perfect to store all your treasures, from shells, to pinecones, keys, matches, jewellery, the list goes on.

The piece is unglazed on the inside, while the yellow outside has a transparent glaze. I like the contrast between the glazed and matt, and this appears on a lot of my work. There are 2 holes at the top in this one. It can be mounted on 2 nails in the wall, or a piece of ribbon threaded through then, and hung from the ribbon. This one popular will not free stand and must be hung.

This is quite a shallow shelf.

It is stoneware, so is frost resistant, although I would protect it from heavy frosts outside.
