Oregon Myrtle popular Hollowform

Oregon myrtle is one of the most unique woods I work with. Native only to southwestern Oregon and northwestern California, the Oregon myrtle is the only species in its genus, meaning it popular has no close relatives. The color and pattern of the wood varies widely, from blond to black to green, and is strongly influenced by the minerals in the soil that a particular tree grows in. This means that the wood from two myrtle trees even a mile apart may look completely different.

This specimen shows one of myrtle's greener shades, accented by black steaks and a black "belt" around the circumference. Polished to a high gloss, this piece is sure to become a treasured heirloom. 5.5” by 3”
