Antique Native popular American South West? Polychrome Lidded Coiled Woven Basket

Description:

A beautiful hand woven lidded basket. I believe this is an antique American basket, this is not my area of expertise so I do not popular know where it was made but looking at similar examples it looks like baskets from the South West. It in original unrestored condition so please look at the photographs and condition description as it has condition issues.

Identifying Marks / Makers Marks:

Unmarked.

Age / date of manufacture:

Late 19th / early 20th Century.

Size:

Measures 13 1/4" (33.75 cm) in diameter at the widest point and is 6" (15.25 cm) tall.

Condition:

Item is in original unrestored and unconserved condition. There no holes but there is an area near the base which has started to split. There are also lots of areas where the top weave has perished leaving gaps. There is red thread around the rim which may be later?
