Classical Chinese Handmade Wood Carving

Hand carved by old Chinese folk during the late Qing Daynasty, early 20th century.
The Chinese traditional fortune animals were carved to bring the the owner of this panel the fortune, lucky and happiness. Elephant and magpie are two of the most well-know fortune animal. Their images are used usually in the Chinese painting, architecture design, wood furniture decor.

It was created by the old Chinese folk, used to be a part of the traditional Chinese furniture like a marriage bed, of a table. Until now, lots of the old folk wood carved work are no longer existing in the world. Since during the process of the past 30 years urbanization in China, lot of the old wood structure house were being turned down to the ground and built the brand new modern communities. The traditional furniture which are created by the old Chinese folks, some of them were burned out for cooking, some were just be trashed, lots of them even just be left in a corner and no longer being cared about people.
