What is Hard Paste Porcelain?

If you go into a museum and see a porcelain, chances are it is made of hard paste porcelain. Time and air does not affect it, and it never rust or corrodes. Given good care, it lasts for centuries . Different from other ceramic, hard paste porcelain is fired at much higher temperature at 1400 degree Celsius (about 2550 Fahrenheit), which makes it much more prone to failure without experienced understanding of how the material react in such high heat. This is also why porcelain is known amongst artists and artisans as one of the most difficult medium to make, but one that is truly timeless.
