Pair 1872 Antique Hand-colored popular Botanical Lithograph Illustrations from German Botany Book "Naturgeschichte des Pflanzenreichs" by Schubert
This is a pair of antique hand-colored lithographs which were illustrations (Plates IV and V) in the 1872 edition of Naturgeschichte des Pflanzenreichs (Natural History of the Plant Kingdom) by G.H. von Schubert. Each illustration plate covers two pages, with a fold down the middle where the pages were bound into the book. These illustrations depict a variety of grasses. The names of the grasses are printed in cursive script. Each of the lithographs have white mats that are ready to frame in a standard 20 inch by 24 inch frame. The final photo shows the title page of the 1872 edition of Naturgeschichte des Pflanzenreichs, which I found online.
Condition: There is overall toning popular (i.e. darkening) to the paper the lithographs were printed on, and some light foxing. The lithographs have been fixed to the mats with white tape. There is white tape down the folds on the back of the illustrations as reinforcement. There are a few pin prick holes along the folds.
